"La Puerta del Sol"
Ni bien llegué al hotel me dí un baño y me fuí a caminar, y este fué uno de los primeros lugares históricos que encontré... Este lugar marca el comienzo de todas las carreteras de España (Km. 0), y su nombre se origina por ser uno de los accesos a la ciudad por allá en el siglo XV. Hay varias cosas interesantes alrededor: como La estatua de Carlos III, "la Casa de Correos", la estatua del "Oso y el Madroño"...

As soon as I arrived to the hotel took a shower and went away to walk, and this one was the first of the historical places I found... this place marks the beginning of all the roads of Spain (km 0), and his name originates for being one of the accesses to the city in the 15th century. La mayoría de las calles en este sector de la ciudad muestra esa linea continua de edificios antiguos, muchos de ellos transformados ahora en museos, o en comercios de todo tipo, desde comida rápida y hoteles hasta sex-shops...

Roofs / Techos
Si vemos hacia arriba nos encontraremos con verdaderas obras maestras en cada techo, ¡que diferencia con los de ahora! que sólo tienen un montón de antenas... no sé en que año habrán realizado la monumental tarea de subir esas obras hasta allá, pero incluso ahora se necesitaría una muy buena logística y bastante habilidad para lograrlo.

If we look up we will find real masterpieces in every roof, what a difference with the currents ones! that only have a heap of antennas ... I don't know what year they realized the colossal task of raising these sculptures up to there, but even now it would be necessary a very good logistic and advanced skill to achieve it.

Y eso sin contar lo que se puede ver en cada puerta, hay detalles y acabados asombrosos, el simple hecho de ir de puerta en puerta ya da la sensación de estar en un museo...

Siendo un destino turístico tan importante, y con una agitada vida callejera a toda hora, no pueden faltar los músicos callejeros quienes con su talento alegran la caminata de los visitantes, o en mi caso el almuerzo, y de esa forma obtienen honrádamente algo para su sustento.

Street in repair / Calle en reparación
Aquí y allá, y con cierta frecuencia se consiguen secciones de calles o edificios en reparación, mas de una vez me tocó contonearme para pasar al lado de un andamio, pero supongo que es algo que no se puede evitar para mantener en buena forma una ciudad como Madrid.

Increiblemente sin alejarme mucho del centro me encontré con este lugar donde ya se respiran aires de modernidad, edificios con lineas diferentes, cristales y una pequeña plaza con flores y vegetación, bancos para descansar e incluso una pequeña ave revoloteando entre las ramas...

Es fácil ubicarse, gracias a la señalización efectiva (aunque un poco pequeña aveces) debe ser relativamente sencillo encontrar en un mapa donde se está, aunque como yo andaba sin un destino específico poco me interesaba saber donde estaba, me bastaba con saber que estaba en Madrid...

Entry to Plaza Mayor / Entrada a Plaza Mayor
y andando así, mas por casualidad que por estar buscándola, me conseguí con una de las entradas a la Plaza Mayor, una maravillosa plaza y punto de encuentro de muchas personas... lugar perfecto para degustar unas cervezas contemplando la actividad del lugar, aunque las cervezas estaban mas bien calientes para mi gusto, debí haber recordado que la bebida oficial aquí es el vino tinto... pero ya habrá otra ocasión.

And walking this way, more casually that for being looking for her, I ran up with one of the gates to the "Plaza Mayor", a wonderful place and meeting's point of many persons ... perfect place to drink a few beers contemplating the local activity, though the beers were rather warm for my taste, I should have remembered that the official drink here is the red wine ... but soon will be another occasion.

Big door / Gran puerta
Pero considerando que aún debian haber muchas otras cosas que ver allá afuera, pagué mis cervezas y continué mi camino, y una de las cosas que me encuentro es esta colosal puerta... ¡Vamos!, ¿de verdad eran necesarias esas puertas gigantescas?, ya sé que quizás tenian que entrar caballos y carrozas, pero por esta casi podría entrar un elefante llevando un transbordador espacial.

Pero ya pensando que a la mañana siguiente me esperaba un dia bastante agitado con 4 entrevistas de trabajo, decidí comenzar a recoger mis pasos hacía las proximidades del hotel, y mientras lo hacía me encontré de frente con el bello edificio Grassy.

Out of the center / Fuera del centro
Al siguiente dia me dirigí al sitio de mi primera entrevista, conversando con el taxista descubrí que había planificado el orden de una forma descabellada, pues de aquí tendría que regresar al centro para mas tarde volver a este sector y finalizar en otro sitio un poco cercano al centro :-|, el que no sabe es como el que no ve... pues bien esta zona de la ciudad es totalmente diferente al centro, es como si hubiese ido a otra ciudad... mas moderna, con espacios abiertos... en ese edificio tuve la primera entrevista, creo que se llama Bronce... por cierto, los taxistas se quejan del tráfico, definitivamente nunca han manejado en Caracas.

The next day I went to the site of my first interview, talking with the taxi driver discovered that I'd planned the order in a crazy way, since from here I'd have to return to the center, later to this sector again and finally to another place near to the center :-|, who doesn't know is as who doesn't see ... well, this zone of the city is totally different of the center, it's as if I'd gone to another city ... more modern, with opened spaces ... in this building I had the first interview, I believe it is called "Bronce" ... certainly, the taxi drivers complain about the traffic, definitively they have never handled in Caracas.

De vuelta al centro mi siguiente entrevista fué en la Calle de Velazquez, bonita calle por donde estuve caminando por un rato pues llegué temprano, tanto que me dió tiempo de abrir una cuenta en un banco cercano, en este sector noté una gran cantidad de pequeños comercios.

"Parque del Retiro"
Justo al lado de la Puerta de Alcalá está una de las entradas a uno los mas bellos parques de Madrid, el Parque del Retiro... internamente cuenta con una buena cantidad de monumentos, fuentes, estanques y hermosos jardines, es un paseo hermoso y refrescante que le da un giro interesante al entorno repleto de edificaciones, tráfico y gente apurada de un lado a otro...

Encontrar a este pato fué una grata sorpresa... si, los animales silvestres llegan hasta el centro de Madrid, aunque debo aceptar que está muy acostumbrado a la presencia de personas, pues mi cercanía casí ni lo inmutó.

A place to relax / Un lugar para relajarse
Mientras que este estanque en el Monumento a Alfonso XII luce como un buen lugar para relajarse, además fué el sitio donde noté que tan fuera de lugar me veía yo, con saco y corbata mientras todos los demás usaban ropa de verano, apuesto a que un payaso habría estado vestido mas acorde que yo.

Whereas this pond in the Monument to Alfonso XII looks as a good place to relax, furthermore it was the place where I noticed how much out of place I was dressed, with sack and tie while all the rest were using summer clothes, I bet that a clown would have been dressed more accord to the place than me.

"Monumento a Alfonso XII"
Con una altura de 30 mts. y una gran variedad de esculturas alrededor de la columna central, a la par de estar al lado del estanque, este monumento se convierte en una de las obras mas siginificativas y visitadas del parque.

"Puerta del Sol"
Al llegar al hotel despues de la última entrevista, poco después de las 8 de la noche, tomé un baño y al salir estuve tentado a tirarme en la cama, pero si lo hacía no me iba a levantar hasta el siguiente dia... así que de inmediato me fuí de nuevo a la calle, luego de cenar en un local emblemático de la ciudad llamado el Museo del Jamón, realicé de nuevo un recorrido similar al del dia anterior comenzando de nuevo con La Puerta del Sol, pero esta vez de noche...

Caminar a lo largo de la Gran Vía durante la noche es bastante relajante, la iluminación nocturna le da un giro interesante a la ciudad, los edificios antiguos lucen diferentes cuando se mezclan con las luces de neón de los establecimientos comerciales, los autos y el alumbrado público...

El Madrid nocturno es en realidad una delicia... al menos durante esta estación del año, creo que en invierno me lo pensaría un par de veces antes de dejar una habitación calida, pero ya llegará el momento de tomar esa decisión...

Semaphores / Semáforos
El tráfico disminuye, los semáforos continuan funcionando... y algunas zonas, en especial algunos locales, aún bullen de gente... se nota que muchos son turistas por la gran variedad de idiomas que se oyen, entrar a tomar una cerveza y una tapa en lugares como el Museo del Jamón se convierten en una odisea.

The traffic diminishes, the semaphores keep working ... and some zones, especially some locals, still boil of people ... it's evident that a lot are tourists for the great variety of languages that are heard, enter for a beer and a snack in places like the Museum of the Ham turn into an odyssey.

Street at night / Calle en la noche
En la Plaza Cibeles decidí regresar al hotel, para descansar y prepararme para otro agitado dia, en el camino seguí disfrutando de la noche madrileña.

In the Plaza Cibeles I decided to return to the hotel, to rest and to prepare for another busy day, in the way I kept enjoying of the Madrid's night.

"Centro empresarial La Finca"
Durante este dia no tomé muchas fotografias, en la mañana me fuí caminado desde el hotel hasta mi entrevista en la Calle de Velázquez, en realidad pensaba que estaba mas cerca pero la caminata fué larga, luego me dediqué a realizar compras de regalos y souvenirs y en la tarde tuve mi última entrevista en "La Finca", un moderno Centro Empresarial ubicado a la entrada de Pozuelo de Alarcón... Las instalaciones se ven muy bien cuidadas, al igual que los jardines...

During this day I didn't take many pictures, in the morning I walked from the hotel to my interview in Velázquez's Street, actually I thought it was closer but the trek was long, after I spent the time buying gifts and souvenirs and in the evening I had my last interview in "La Finca", a modern Enterprise Center located to Pozuelo de Alarcón's entry... The facilities looks very well cared, as the gardens.
