Dining out in Toronto, Canada 4/04

My daughter and son-in-law take traveling for food very seriously. They are fully equipped with a notebook, digital camera, laptop and a pair of binoculars for scouting out hard-to-find storefronts from the car. A big part of the fun is interviewing locals to get the scoop -- it's a form of cultural exchange. We have good teamwork because I help translate the Chinese signs and menus into English. My son-in-law is good at establishing a rapport with the waiters in their own language to make a balanced selection of the best dishes. My daughter handles the navigation, photography and logistics. My wife ... well, she just tags along for the ride. Some people have it easy, don't they?
