Yuen Yuen Restaurant 2/25/04

As far as we're concerned, this place is truly an institution. It has not changed much in the past 30 years. There are only a few closely-spaced formica tables there, but there is never much of a wait because people usually just eat and run.

We especially enjoy the freshly squeezed orange juice, lychee bing (ice drinks with condensed milk and whole canned lychees), and "Three Treasure Rice" (chicken, Chinese sausages, and a perfectly fried egg on top of rice). My son-in-law likes to customize this dish with green vegetables and extra sausages. These sausages are so outstanding, everyone wants to know what brand the owner buys (she's the lady on the left, next to her son). But it is a well-guarded secret, as is her source for the sweetest juice oranges in town!

Next stop: Mei Lai Wah across the street (please see next picture)
