Ten Mile River Scout Camp in upstate New York 1941

I remember having so much fun with the other Scouts at Ten Mile River. One time, we saw some beautiful apples on a tree and helped ourselves to them when no one was looking. We later regretted it because we all had terrible stomachaches right there!

Another time, I was asked to stand up and say a few words about what being a Boy Scout meant to me. Since I had been in the United States for only a year, I got very nervous and tried to excuse myself by saying that I could speak, but only in Chinese. Then a priest jumped up and said, "No problem! I was a missionary in China ... I'll translate for you!" Can you imagine my shock meeting a Scandinavian man who could speak Chinese? I had no idea if he did a good job of translating or not!

Wow, I was a Scout in the 1970's and spent many summers at TMR.

Wish you had more old images like this one. Great to know that Scouting made you feel welcomed and part of our brotherhood!
