Jan mentioned we might go to a rodeo during my visit so I thought I might get some bareback riding practice before then. Seeing this Metal Moose outside Jeff Fleming's studio in Kalispell seemed to me an excellent opportunity to try out my mounting and dismounting skills.

Kalispell is the largest city and commercial centre of Northwest Montana. The name Kalispell is a Salish word meaning "flat land above the lake." It is also the nearest population centre to Glacier National Park. I have now discovered that Salish is a group of indigenous languages of this region but alas I have been unable to master any vocabulary because I cannot comprehend their fondness for clustering lots and lots of consonants beside one another.
