Frimpong in Montana - by Jan Myers

I have had the great good fortune to visit many wonderful places, and when Jan extended an invitation to me to visit her in Montana I could scarcely contain my joy.
I had heard much about this wonderful landlocked state, which is home to the Rocky Mountains and some very fine prairie land.
I had read about its national parks, seen images of its trees and other flora and fauna.
I was especially interested in the fact that my forebears hold a place of esteemed honour in Montana,
and that they are highly regarded and celebrated in song, story, sculpture, paintings and of course sport.

Did you know that the local university football team is called the Grizzlies?
Many travellers who have made visits like me to Montana have given us wonderful written wonderful records.
Among them was John Steinbeck who celebrated Montana in Travels with Charley: In Search of America where he documented the road trip he took with his French standard poodle Charley around the United States, in 1960.
“I am in love with Montana," said Steinbeck and he explained that. "it seemed to me that the frantic bustle of America was not in Montana."
He and Charley visited the battlefield of Little Big Horn and Yellowstone National Park.
Here, Charley's canine instincts caused him to go crazy barking at a grizzly bear in the road.

Fortunately, being a member of the Bear clan myself, I had no such problems, and as you will see later on in the record of my most enjoyable visit with Jan I even made friends with a young coyote!

In addition to all this excitement I didn’t realise that Jan had other surprises in store for me.
I was delighted when she told me she was inviting me along on her holiday to Alaska!
We would be going on a cruise ship.
This was a most memorable journey, where I met lots of wonderful people,
and I have decided to dedicate a separate gallery to it within this gallery, which I am currently preparing and will be delighted to show you soon.
