The yellow tram is a distinctive feature of Budapest’s urban landscape
and has played an important role in the transportation of the city
ever since the start of the first line over 113 years ago.
Endre says there are about 30 tram lines with over 700 tram cars running daily.
Of course, a tram runs on rails.
So, if you see rails on the street, be careful there may be a tram sneaking around.
On the other hand if you see a big yellow tram without rails underneath;
- it may not a be a tram; -
it may be an accident; -
or actually it is the otherwise unlikely case that you see a giraffe.
