From the Summit of Santorini

An unusual perspective of the island. Looking toward the caldera the villages of Fira (dead center) and Oia (trailing to the left) can just be distinguished as can the crater circle. The cone is in the foreground of the caldera just peeking above the near rim. Terraced vineyards, and other agricultural projects can be distinguished. To the right is the airport runway, continuing for ever, it seems. Notice the shadows cast on the island by the passing clouds and the mythic Aegean stretching to the horizon.

Fascinating colors and shapes. This format does not really show your panaramic title photo to best advantage. I like the old Kodak SW film look.

C'est tout simplement une splendeur !!! Quand la page internet s'est ouverte j'ai ressentie une grande émotion. Comme si je recevais par ces photos beaucoup de chaleur, de soleil, l'appaisement aussi communiqué par ces mûrs blancs.
J'aimerai beaucoup me rendre dans ce lieu.

This is so fantastic! Several years ago I read a book likening Santorini to Atlantis and it drew many parallels. Your photos are most breathtaking, such a beautiful place to visit, and such a link to the historic past. very well done.

Really amazing collection of brilliant and bold images. I was please to see you adding this. I just recently watched a special on the History Channel about the eruption and loss of the old civilization as well as looking into the potential of a future eruption. It would be a sad day and huge loss.

Absolutely stunning gallery, right from the opening shot from the summit I was ready to cast my vote. The white is so brilliant one almost needs to put on sun glasses. I reminded of the old Pied Noir nickname for Algiers, "La Blanche" (i.e. The White).
