Car 418 was built in 1913 by the Pullman Car Co. for the Oakland, Alameda and Berkeley Lines of the Southern Pacific RR, which provided electric commuter service in the San Francisco Bay area. Known as Blimps due to their large size, more than 60 of these cars were used in the Los Angeles area during WWII to transport shipbuilders.
