Electric Elegance
A yard light in the snow was backlighted by the sun, making it look like it was shining on its own. With a topping of snow that looks like a fancy tophot, the light looks quite debonair to me.

The Magic of Snow
Snow can do some magical things to the landscape, and to many other things it touches.
A bench can be beautified by the fallen snow, as this bench is, in my point of view.
I hope you agree.

Edged in Frost!
I looked out the window into the backyard and saw backlit leaves edged in frost. Frost in the right kind of light can be so beautiful! I just had to brave the cold so that I could go out there to get some pictures. Then I needed to move around till I had a dark background. This is what I got.

Boat Dock
This boat dock stood out on this foggy day at Dexter Lake. Now, it is turning very cold tonight, and was getting pretty icy out there by 6:00 PM.

A Wisp of Fog
A bit of fog in the Coburg Hills of Western Oregon.

Light and Dark
I saw these leaves under a bridge with backlight giving them a colorful glow. They practically jumped out against the dark rocks where they were growing. It made such a great contrast between light and dark that I couldn't resist a shot. The leaves are not perfect, but that's the effect of age on us all. :) Perhaps it was their last hoorah before they fall and winter is upon us.

Log In Grass On Frosty Morning
We have recently had some frosty mornings, because of cold Arctic air coming in from the north. I like how the frost beautifies scene such as this.

Merganser With a Mouthful
While at Delta Ponds this morning, I watched some Hooded Mergansers that were quite a ways out in the pond. In this shot the male is in the lead with two females following close behind. I could tell in the full frame that the male had something in its beak, but not what. In this cropped picture, one can see that it definitely does have a catch that looks like a fish or frog.
On my computer screen it appears that an eye is visible like that of a fish. In other frames, the male tried to swallow it and finally got it down! It was fun to watch, but I could only really see it by using an 18-300mm zoom lens.

Brown Creeper
I was standing behind a tree at Delta Ponds this morning trying to get some pictures of an egret when I saw a movement in the tree right in front of me! With my eyes the way they are, I don't always see small things. But there it was, a small bird creeping up the tree, feeding. It must not have noticed me because I was pretty close. I never saw it until I saw movement. It blended in with the tree so well!
I had never seen one like it so when I got home I checked my book for the slightly curved beak and the colors, browns and white with a white breast. The picture and description of the Brown Creeper fit perfectly, even to the tail feathers. Quite a thrill, I had never seen one before!

Mountain Road
Driving in the Coburg Hills is a real source of joy. So much beauty is found out there away from the maddening crowd. This is one of the mountain roads I love to roam.

Wood Duck Or Wooden Duck? Such marvelous colors!
Wood Ducks always look like a wood carving to me, something with colors coming out of the carver's mind. They are simply awesome creations! This one was swimming in the waters of Delta Ponds, which were reflecting the autumn leaves of surrounding trees.
