The front of these drifts kept getting steeper and steeper, and the only way I could get up them was to kick steps into the hard packed snow. There always were pre-kicked steps, but they were always too far apart for me to use and usually on an angle anyhow that would cause me to slip out of them, so I had to kick my own steps.
