The Beijing airport international section is spacious compared to the available flights in a given moment. Additional security is added ONLY to American airliners' ticketing/checkin areas. People are randomly selected, and their checkin luggage is hand checked one by one. Another checkpoint is added right before boarding the plane itself, and this is the case in both San Francisco and Narita airports.
