The Basilica of Saint-Denis near Paris

La Basilique de Saint-Denis, where the kings and queens of France were buried. During the French revolution, tombs were opened and the remains dumped en masse into large pits. In 1817 the remains were placed in an ossuary in the basilica, where the names of the monarchs were recorded. Obviously, the remains could not be identified. May, 2003.
