Cypress Stump

This was a Cypress Knee growing in my yard. I have two beautiful Cypress trees in my front yard. They send up knees, which are very hard to cut around. This is the base of one of the Cypress Knees, short enough for us to cut over.

nice textures... I too thought it was something else before opening it!

Some really wonderful textures captured here, Elaine. I've seen lots of those knees around the river and creek here, I can see they could be a nuisance.

Very interesting!

Can you not cut them out? Or would that kill the trees out front?

I thought it was a coiled up snake from the thumbnail. What an interesting structure.

It has an interesting texture for a stump. No rings. Wonder how you tell how old it is. I'm happy to hear you talk about your trees in the present tense. That means they survived the storm.

So you cut it off at the knee, huh? Nice textures and shapes. did you make something with the knee you cut off?

Interesting textures, but I'm sure the knees are a nuisance when you mow.

This one looks like the lawn mower has had a talk with it a few times. I like the detail in this shot.

Interesting bit Elaine. The 'roots' from my trees have wrecked more lawn mowers than Walmart carries :)

One of the things you wouldn't have minded if Katrina had bowled over :>)
