Noisy Bird

I am staying in a lovely hotel in the Houston area. Unfortunately, there is a large tree outside of my room with too many birds to count. They made noise until long after midnight and then started again at 4am this morning. I'm not sure what kind of bird this is, but there are many different types out there, who have many different kinds of calls.

Crowne Plaza gives you a package at check-in in with a "soothing sounds" CD, a set of earplugs, lavender spray for your pillow and clips to keep the drapes shut. Remind me to lend it to you for your next trip.

We have taken supper on the back deck the last few evenings, and we have some songbirds that are in the trees just off to the side that are SO loud, you look up in wonder - you just want to shout: "Can't you keep it down? We're trying to eat over here!"

Interesting bird, Elaine. I hope it decides to find other sleeping quarters tonight.

Looks like a grackle to me too but sounds like a mockingbird. I remember one spring when I was a kid and one got in a tree next to the house. My whole family was sitting in the living room at 3 am trying to figure out how to shoot it. LOL. Nice photo. I like the tones on the bird.

You need a good squirt gun!

I can sympathize! We have mockingbirds that sing incessantly from 4:00AM on.

Did it help your frustration to "shoot" him?

He looks like he would just delight in irritating hotel guests.

Good capture, hope you can get some sleep tonight.
