Algae

One of my poor neighbors has a ditch that does not drain. It it always filled with water and has thick algae growing.

Spring is causing other things to appear as well. Here is a very busy nest of red ants. Thank goodness they were up on a levee and not in my yard.

Nice colors. It's probably a paradise for lots of the other lifeforms we share the planet with.

Interesting. At least it is green, not frozen and white.

My first thought was mosquitoes and West Nile. We have very few mosquitoes here and have had cases of West Nile. I'd have to be on him to drain that mess.

It does make an interesting picture, Elaine--the thumbnail looks sort of like a Monet. Looks like there is a lot of phosphate in that water.

Ewww! Your science teacher side is showing. Gross stuff.

Can see where that would be a problem; what can they do about it, Elaine?
