Ship Taking on Grain

Luling, LA - Looking at St. Rose, LA

This ship was taking on grain at one of our local grain elevators. If you look closely you will see a spot that looks like smoke, it is a cloud of dust from the grain. I was near one of the bends in the river and the amount of debris the receding river left behind is amazing as well as the silt. This is a shot of just a little of the debris, the clouds were starting to roll in as I was shooting.

A busy image, and so clear in detail, Elaine. I like seeing the workings on your river.

It's very nice to learn about the way other people live in other places.

I love how majestic those ships appear. Every time you, gayle or Karen feature them I am amazedabout their size. Very nice caption.

Exposure is excellent, crisp and tight, the ship filling the frame, and I noticed the grain dust right away. A great shot Elaine. One of your best, I think.

I hope you are not getting the yukky weather we probably sent your way. Very nice image and commentary.

This is an absolutely crisp, wonderful shot. (Be careful where you aim your camera!)

It always amazes me how these huge ships stay afloat with all their cargo. Looks like your weather is less than ideal also huh?

I wonder if this grain came down the river in a barge from Minneapolis.

Good color and clarity for taking from one side of the river to the other.

An amazing sight. That really is a working river, isn't it.
