Egret

I am amazed at all of the wonderful images of birds that pbasers take. I have not been able to get close enough to any bird to get a good image. I even keep filling my feeders hoping that they will let me sneak up on then.

I like the way this is isolated in the field. It shows the enviroment and the white bird against the green really stands out.

Nice, a very different composition from the usual egret shots

You got him square in the viewfinder. The only way to get a closer close-up is mid to long telephoto or extra tame wild birds (is that an oxymoron?). There usually are no compromises.

I wouldn't know what to do with one of these if i even SAW one :(
Keep 'em coming Elaine.

such a graceful looking bird... the composition makes the egret look fragile and delicate to me

You'll need to come play in the Spillway with Bre and me over Mardi Gras break.

Good composition and the contrast in color is just right.

This is lovely Elaine! Nice reflection!

I'll take egrets over Mardi Gras any day. This picture's no slouch. I love the reflection.

I'll rather have Mardi Gras that Egrets :^)

Here's a hint, Elaine. For sea birds, go down to the local waterfront where the fishers are and you'll usually find a pelican or heron or egret that sits around waiting for a handout. If your camera has a portrait mode, use that so your background will not be "messy." These lazy birds will usually not move unless you want to touch them... good luck!

Good shot. That's why you see birders carrying big telephoto lenses.

You got him, however. I think we're all going to get killed on the highway or the side of the highway trying to get egret pictures. I got two today, one on the way west and one on the way east.

He looks lonely, Elaine. Birds like butterflies are a hit & miss for me too.
