Light and Glass

Gloomy day, so I'm playing with the light again. This has a slight Gaussian Blur on the background. Here are two others. I am having a lot of fun playing around, still have lots to learn! That is what makes it so much fun.

This has a lot of class and grace. I love this reflection and I love the color combination. Very nicely done.

Excellent balance of colors here. Good work!

Beautiful color and softness. Well done! I like playing with stuff like this.

Yeah I'm having to find things to photograph indoors too, makes for interesting pics though! This one is nice, I like the softness of the background.

Beautiful colors. The highlights on the glass just make it sparkle. Nicely done.

This really works well. Nice masking job on the glass to blur the background and great lighting.

Very pretty image. The fabric draped in the background works really well with this! Good job :)

Hey, I like Karen's idea, Elaine...a sort of do it with pictures, that way dummies ( moi ) may pick up on a thing or two. ;>)
Like all three here.

Interesting background color you picked out, and the soft focus. Nice idea. I like the second one too, as I can see more of the base of the glass and in a different angle. Nice lighting too.
Very creative

Hey Elaine-here's an idea: since the both of us are having so much 'fun' with externals (I'm using the word very loosely,) lets put a quick blurb into the caption area into how we did the lighting-maybe even take a shot of the setup, to see what we did. I'm learning from yours, and the comments and suggestions of others.

BTW, I really like the way the light hits the fabric-gives it a nice soft glow. And it is beautful glass.

Practice, practice, practice!

I agree, these are very complimentary colors, but the blue is very special...and makes
everything brighter. I want to call that blue azure. In the chemistry lab you make a blue like that from Diazo ammonium. The picture is so lovely!

Very well done.

I play with light all the time on a gloomy day :o) I like the blend of colors and use of soft fabric, nicely done. A suggestion: I noticed that you didn't use a flash, you might want to try directing your light source from the side of the glass and that will remove the highlight from the front and give it a softer look. That's a beautiful glass.

This one looks really great. I love the colors and the play of light. It's sure a lot cheerier than the weather outside has been.

You are doing great with your "playing around". I'll check with you when I get
ready to experiment with lighting. These colors are really good together.
