It was quite a surprise to come upon this sow and cub leisurely taking their afternoon nap,
stretched out in the sunshine, on top of a stump. We sat transfixed as we watched them, then
we saw the cub wake up and begin swatting at a fly or some type of bug. In the process it lost
its' balance and fell backward off the stump. We could hardly stop laughing while we were shooting
this awkward 'cub' moment. Bear facts: Mother bears are affectionate, protective, devoted, strict,
sensitive, and attentive with their cubs. A mother raises her cubs to an age where they can survive
on their own.
~ Bears are powerful and strong animals; they should always be treated with caution and respect. ~
