These beautiful ducks were congregating near the herring spawn along eastern Vancouver Island and
we stopped to watch and phtograph the group. Harlequn Duck facts: Harlequin ducks dive to feed on
crustaceans and mollusks, insects, small fish and roe found in riverine and marine habitats. They
are the only duck in North America that migrates inland from the ocean to nest. By early July the
males leave again for the ocean. ~ Ducks Unlimited
