Windblown Osprey

Firehole River, Yellowstone National Park

Osprey can be seen along the rivers in Yellowstone, but they are frequently missed by many of the park visitors. They sit high in the trees, surveying the rivers for food and their cry is easily identifiable, but you must diligently watch the treetops and listen for their call to find them. Osprey facts: Eagles and ospreys frequent similar habitats and sometimes battle for food. Eagles often force osprey to drop fish that they have caught and steal them in midair. ~ National Geographic
