Finally...one of these evasive ducks came close enough to get a clear shot! They've been around all winter, just never close enough, or on top of the water long enough, to shoot. The Bufflehead is the smallest diving duck in North America and unlike most ducks is generally considered monogamous, often remaining with the same mate for several years.
