About 10AM, the two float planes arrive. The reurn flight generally follows the Wind and the Peel, and we are treated to some great aerial views of the rivers we have just travelled. However, as we approach the highest portions of the Wernecke mountains, where the Wind river starts, the clouds close in, and the flying become treacherous. Our pilots have to fly us through narrow mountain passes with limited visibility. One plane has to turn back and try a different route.
