The Weeping Sentinel

My great-grandfather, Thos. J. O'Donoghue, was a tavern owner in Philadephia, but he moonlighted, writing lyrics for sheet music. He wrote page after page of lyrics in a ledger book, many of them about Ireland. This one was published. http://www.pbase.com/emmiegray/image/32388676

How special that you have this! I cried when I read it...made me think of the sorrow...one of the many great costs of wars. My dearest uncle Ted was a Marine and he died in Vietnam. I think of our servicemen in Iraq, their families and friends...and my heart goes out to all of them. I would love to turn on the news and hear that this terrible war is over and that our guys and gals are coming home! I don't see how anything good can come from this war. Missy
