Mars, showing the feature Syrtus Major appears near opposition on Christmas Day in 2007. This is a combination of about 25 frames taken with a 10-inch newtonian and a Nikon D80 using eyepiece projection with a 12mm Brandon. Each frame was about 1/10 of a second. The seeing was quite poor, perhaps due to the deep snow and clear, cold transparent skies
