![]() Granddad's Watch My grandfather was an engineer on the Burlington Northern and Quincy Railroad. He left his watches to his daughter's son. This is the one he left for me. If you look closely at the back cover you can see some numbers the jeweler recorded for the inspections. As you can see by the second hand it is still running today. The movement was manufactured 1915. |
![]() Old 6062 of the BNSF Railway There is a long history for the BNSF starting in 1849. My grandfather and uncle worked for them running the engines when it was the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. There is always a lot of activity along the line by the Platte River. You can always see it wither you are golfing, visiting one of the parks or diving Interstate 80.

![]() BNSF Train Along The Platte River Exploring the Platte River Walking Bridge you have to cross a set of tracks. This BNSF coal was just setting there. It is always nice to catch a train running along the Platte River.

![]() Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 Old Days There is nothing sleek or modern about this big monster and there is nothing whimy about this big monster. You don't even have to be close to see and feel the power this engine generates. It was something to see the Union Pacific Big Boy Old Days.

![]() Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 Connection You don't pull rail cars down the road with out a strong connection. Here is just one of the many Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 connections.
|
![]() Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 Big Boy Lots of people looking over the Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 so it was impossible to get a train only shot but this one show the size compare to people looking it over.
|
![]() Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 Touchscreen The Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 touchscreen seems to be missing. On the other hand with all the knobs to be turned I am sure he won't be bored. With the force it takes to turn those knobs I would assume touchscreens would be out of bounds for this engineer.

![]() Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 Massive Everything about the Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 is massive. With the wheels being 68 inches in diameter every bolt, pin or joint is big. Very impressive to see!
|
![]() Union Pacific Bad Big Boy 4014 Walking up to the Union Pacific bad Big Boy engine you just know it is a tough mother! Everything is big and bad about it. Here it has a day old bread and grit around it's collar and after hours of building up steam you will know this engine has attitude!

![]() UP Big Boy 4014 Wheels The UP Big Boy 4014 floats down the tracks on 28 wheels that are 68 inches in diameter. I am amazed at it's build.

![]() UP Big Boy 4014 The UP Big Boy 4014 has been making it's way around the countryside and this afternoon it stopped in Omaha, NE. There were a large number of people viewing this monster of a train engine. Build in 1941, I'm sure it probably spent it first years with the war effort. Bell clanking, whistle blowing and the dark cloud puffing out of the stack. It is fun to see them.
