![]() Fall Lagoon Just off the path is a little lagoon just waiting for the winter ice. The autumn colors are starting to come out and with the evening sun the colors are brilliant. There are a couple of Wood Ducks over to the side out of site from this angle. Everything is quiet now but the evening wildlife will be coming out soon along with the night sounds.
![]() Winter Pond Lots of little ponds in the wetlands that have iced over and with the setting sun, the color becomes magical making each winter pond unique. There is so much beauty in this little corner of the world. If you can wait out the cold a lot of wild life will emerge.
![]() Autumn Color Reflection On Water Autumn is a great time of the year to take photos. A brilliant sun, lots of color in the trees on the far side of the pond, a smooth water surface for reflection and a lens a little out of focus will get you a long way to a really fun and colorful photograph of autumn.

![]() _DSC8983.jpg A warm winter day at Heron Haven and not much of anything going on. A number of Canada Geese and Mallards swimming and resting on the ice. In the quiet of the late afternoon I begin to watch the small ripples in the water bush up against this branch embedded in the water.
![]() _DSC8447.jpg In the middle of Omaha, NE is a wetland known as Heron Haven. As a preserved wetland summer is spent growing trees and bushes which help to hid the wildlife. Fall in full bloom at the wetlands is very colorful. Here is a small corner of that wetland.
![]() DSC05548.jpg The woods is coming alive with animals, flowers and tree blooms. Where once you could see sky, green has edged it. Some trees will burst in color before they change to their summer green.
![]() DSC02641.jpg A dark cold fall day and a walk in the woods. You hear the crunch of the dried leaves under your feet as you find out what is around the corner.
![]() DSC02634.jpg A cold November day in the wetlands with a lot of cloud cover. Snow furies yesterday so I took a walk today to see what I might find at Heron Heaven. A number of Mallards were out but so were two Great Blue Herons. Look closely and you will see a Great Blue Heron in the tree line to the right.
![]() _DSC6026.jpg In the spring the forest blooms forth with brilliant color. Here the lavender color really stands out.
![]() DSC01302.jpg The ice is gone and the white snow has melted. Now is the small season of dull color while we wait for the spring rain to feed the summer colors.
![]() _DSC4984.jpg Snow is gone and the ice has melted which means spring is on the way. Soon this tree with the mushrooms growing up the trunk will be hidden by the new forest growth.
![]() _DSC3767.jpg Highbush Cranberries provide a lot of color in the winter. Come spring and they will be a feast for the birds. It seems that the birds like them to cure a little.
![]() _DSC6299.jpg Early morning walk in the fall makes for a very colorful view especially when it is in the wetlands.
![]() _DSC6285.jpg Just a brilliant fall morning.
![]() DSC00862.jpg There is a little bench here where you can set and watch the sun go down behind you as you listen to the birds, frogs and ducks. And this year you can watch the nesting Canada Goose and hope to catch a glimpse of her young ones about to hatch.
![]() DSC00859.jpg The sun is going down and last year's cattails are catching the last few rays of light from the sun.
![]() DSC00521.jpg On a rainy day you can take a walk on a sidewalk and get splashed by the passing cars or you can take a walk in the woods. A spring rain makes everything more vibrate.

![]() DSC01331.jpg Fall is a great time to take a walk.
![]() DSC01918.jpg The tree gave up it's leaves over night and covered up the wood pile.
![]() DSC01875.jpg Just watching the leaves fall into the water creating the ripples that continue to expand.
![]() DSC02273.jpg Still some color remaining deep in the woods.
![]() DSC02309.jpg A bright fall day with a little stream flowing makes the fall colors stand out.
![]() DSC02631.jpg Finding fewer and fewer leaves attached to the plant that produced them.
![]() DSC02652.jpg One of the many ponds at Heron Heaven in Omaha NE that had a quiet beauty about it this evening.
![]() DSC02771.jpg Two Mallards taking a swim in the early morning fog.

![]() DSC02949.jpg The food supply seems plentiful for the winter and adds some color to the scene.
![]() DSC02964.jpg Yesterday there was a group of Mallards here and today it has almost completely iced over with a thin layer.
![]() DSC06793.jpg A Killdeer was really making a lot of noise.
