Libellula pulchella

The twelve-spotted skimmer is common in Central Park.

The male is easily recognized by its distinctive wing pattern, featuring three dark spots and two bright white spots on each of its four wings.

It has a beautiful, chalky-blue abdomen that stands out vividly when perched near the water.
