I was in Chisinau one week before the general elections (which were held on April 5, 2009). For the last week before the elections it was relatvely quiet, no campaigns of the contending political parties going on. Of course there were a lot of election posters, but there were no signs whatsoever, that the result of the elections would cause such an uproar.
