Moldavian Grigore Cotovschi was one of the military leaders of the Russian Revolution. After the fall of the Communist regime, there was a discussion whether or not to remove this monument, and it finally was decided to keep it. The building in the background is Hotel Cosmos, where I spent my night in Chisinau. Also a (Communist) building with a great past - and a not so great future....

Excellent shot. People have a tendency to want to destroy what they perceive as a relic from something 'evil' but keeping it helps preserve a part of the world's history.
