Our first full day in Paris was spent doing usual tourist "thing" with Greg and Ginger as Ron and Diane went to Versailles. We started with an outdoor breakfast, then went into Notre Dame. A young nun with a lovely voice was singing at the mass. We next went to the caged bird market near Notre Dame, open only on Sundays. A hugh variety of birds and cages are for sale. Near to the market is Sante-Chapelle, a church known for its wonderful stained glass windows that tell stories of the Bible. We took the Metro to Abbesses station where a combo was playing in the square and a small crowd had gathered. We took the long walk up to Sacre Couer but did not go in as there was a large crowd there to hear mass. There was also a very large crowd in the nearby Place du Terte, a plaza loaded with artists who sell their paintings or who will do a drawing of you while you wait. We had lunch in the center of the Place, under a tent like canopy. On the way back we went to the Arc de Triomphe and looked down the Champs Elysees That evening, Ron,Diane,Lillian and Ed went to the Moulin Rouge which we found to be enjoyable. We ate at a small Italian restaurant near the Moulin. The first night we had dinner at Le Coupe-Chou, a fine little place with great food but a sort of funky interior.
