Our first stop was Melbourne, a lovely city on the S.E. Coast of Australia. We stayed in a boutique hotel, Lindrum Hotel. we were fortunate to be upgraded to a suite. The staff is very friendly and the service is excellent. The most popular means of getting around Melbourne seems to be by tram and in the central business district, all trams are free. We used #35, City Tour which notes points of interest along the way. We also took the Hop-on Hop-Off line but did not enjoy it as much...weather sucked. Most of the buildings in Melbourne seem to be contemporary, lots of steel and glass. They were also very asymmetrical.
