Yesterday was Zoo Parents Day at the St. Louis Zoo. Families of people who "adopted" an animal this year were invited for a special evening, with buffet, special programs at the exhibits, and extended hours.
We got there at about 5:00 PM for a cool, cloudy evening. Conditions were rather dim, but the animals were active.
The new African Painted Dog habitat was a big hit. 2 Million of these colorful dogs once roamed the African continent. Today fewer than 6,000 remain in the wild.
I was shooting with my Pentax *ist D digital SLR body. Dim as it was, I cranked up the ASA to 1600 and shot aperture priority. Results were interesting, saturated color, even lighting.
