The Argus Model M is a small bakelite-bodied camera made between 1939 and 1940, and designed for size 828 paper-backed roll film. To test the capabilities of my better example, I did the simple modifications of closing off the rear exposure counter windows and putting a mark on the advance knob to mark a revolution. In a dark changing bag, I then pulled the film out of an asa 100 roll of standard 35mm film, cut it off near the cassette end, taped the ends of film to two 828 spindles, wound the film tightly onto the supply side spool, then loaded film and spools into the camera. I had already figured that workable spacing of frames would be a turn and a half at beginning of roll, a turn and a quarter at the end. When I was done exposing the roll, the camera went back into the dark bag, was opened, and the film rewound into the original 35mm cassette, and then processed in the normal manner.
