Saint Louis Zoo 021310

The day before Valentines Day, and the sun peeked out about midday.
I had a black-bodied Pentax ME, a Sears/Ricoh f:1.7 / 50mm lens in P/K Mount, and a Sears f:3.5 / 135mm lens with manual "preset" style aperture control and a T-Mount. All needed testing, so I dropped a roll of ASA 200 Walgreens print film into the chamber and headed for the Saint Louis Zoo.

The weather was cold but tolerable. Partial snow cover on the ground and deep shadows made for tricky metering conditions. I did not know that the T-Mounted long lens was underexposing by a full stop. It probably would have helped if I had dialed in some extra exposure to compensate for the snow, anyway.
The inside of the gorilla home was very weird in color balance, a strong greenish caste, and I found that the images of the big silverback looked better with a sepia tint.
The outdoor shots with the long lens were difficulty to save, even after scanning again.
But it felt good to be out and walking about.
