Mustek MDC 3500

This compact digital camera cost me $1.21 at a thrift store.

The good:
It takes ordinary AA batteries.
It uses removable SD cards for memory.
Images are 1600 x 1200, equal to 1.92 megapixel.
Controls are easy and intuitive.
The lens has a "Macro" setting.
It displays images on a screen, as well as in an optical viewfinder.

The not so good:
I found it difficult to decide when to use "Macro" or Normal.
Focused results were unpredictable.
Color and texture were sometimes just plain weird.

Surprisingly, subjects out toward infinity show up much sharper than mid distance.
But indoor without flash frames came out so strange, they made me think of what I have seen from pinhole camera work, or indicative of film reciprocity failures.

It is probably unlikely that I will try using this camera again, certainly not for anything serious.
