Olympus Camedia C-4000 on Meramec

I found this medium sized digital camera at a thrift store for $3.00.
It cleaned up well.
It uses AA batteries and stores to a "Smart Media" card, which is difficult to find at a reasonable price. Luckily I had a card already, in another camera.

I gave it a test today at Minnie Ha Ha Park in Sunset Hills. I went before Noon while temperatures were still around 90. Later in the day it reached 100 and beyond.

It is just a little over 2 months since the Meramec River reached historic record flood levels, coming up about 40 feet vertically! The two bridges seen in these photos were both closed during flooding, the one bridge with water up over the deck, the other with the approaches inundated. The street directly across the river in old town Fenton was also well under water.
We are now in a bit of a drought, temps each day hitting 100 and beyond and little or no rain for weeks. The size of the Meramec River flowing through now "reflects" that.

The camera was pretty good with sharpness and focus, but a little strange in color rendition under some conditions, which I found difficult to tweak in software.
Overall, I would rate it a C+ or B-.
