9 October happened to be the Harvest Festival for the Pearly Harvest Kings and Queens. This charitable organization continues an East End tradition among the working class, by wearing suits gussied up with thousands of mother-of-pearl buttons.
This festival took place at St. Paul's Church in Covent Garden (the Inigo Jones church, not the Cathedral by Wren.) They were accompanied by the Green Hackle Pipe Band, who gave a rousing set of standards.
