Ipomoea indica by Gardens on the Edge

The perennial morning glory was only about 3 inches tall when I bought it in April. In no time, it was at the top of the 8' fence, and 15' along it.

Yes, it stays outside in winter. The leaves die if they're exposed to much frost, but the stems survive, and sprout again in spring. In a severe winter the top may all die, but it should grow bacdk from the roots. It's also very easy to take cuttings, and keep a spare plant indoors for winter, which will quickly grow large again during the summer. The plant in this picture was only about 3 inches tall in spring.
