In the beginning was the dreamtime. All the animal spirits and plant spirits were asleep. .. then the rainbow serpent awoke, moving across the land. All the mountains and streams were created by her movement. Then she stopped and looked around. Everything was beautiful and in place but she was all alone. So, she went back to the dreamtime and woke the other plant and animal spirits. This is how life started in Australia.
I visited in Australia and while being there, met many aborigine folks. We shared good times. I listened to their stories. This piece came out of that experience. The funny thing is, I drew it before i went to OZ. It was nothing more that a cool drawing. It wasn't till after talking with the people of Australia that I realized the hidden meanings. The stars in the southern cross point to the south star. The crow flying above represent the spirit of the ancestors. The little man under the tree represent you and me as a visitor. And there is a little crocodile ......
