This is a large woodcut piece reflecting one of the most astonishing places on earth. Dolly Sods WV. The trip to Dolly Sods made for a wonderful weekend in August. Working on the carving took me back to that fabulous day many times over the winter. Time travel is really the reason I make art. When working on a subject, I always reflect the smells, sounds, and feelings of that very day I was inspired. It was a beautiful day in Dolly Sods. There were thunderstorms rolling through leaving rainbows behind. A strong steady warm wind blew all night while i was sheltered under a small groove of spruce trees. I was thinking of love's graces. I wanted to capture the love light and hope that goes with such a wonderful union of people. I want the viewer to see the rainbow and remember during the gray hard times the color will return. Become the hawks circling the sky in this most magical landscape.
