I found one of these in my garage in Caseville. I took a couple of pictures and let it go in the backyard

This is the only poisonous snake in Michigan. It can kill animals if untreated and possible small children. Animals and people bitten need to be treated with antivenin.

I saw a 6" baby in my back yard near my house this weekend. I let him go into the woods and didn't know what kind it was until I found this site. Do I need to worry about a bunch of them under my house or something?

It is fascinating to see these. I thought they were almost extinct. We used to have them in Southern Ontario - not many anymore. Christine
