6/16/08 - Dark, rainy, windy night

Made last fall early in the morning on my way to a sunrise shoot. The wind and rain en route made it pretty clear that no colorful sunrise images were in the offing. Along the way I kept thinking that there's probably a nice image right here and right now - if I use the car's headlights. So - look for a likely spot, pull off to the side, leave the lights on, set up the tripod low to the ground on the road and shoot. Fortunately there weren't many other fools out that early so traffic wasn't a problem.

Well seen Ed. A great idea with an excellent result. I'm sure that a lot of people might have driven down this road without seeing the potential for an interesting photograph. A perfect example of making the best of what's available at the time. Nicely done.

I really enjoy this image. Along with a wonderful composition, as usual, great lighting! :)

It takes me back to many nights driving Wisconsin roads, and wondering if a deer -- or a bear! -- might be crossing just around the bend.
