3/19/08 - Intergalactic Highway

Are we having fun yet? Old boys with new toys.
It's the slinkies again that were used in the past two day's PADs - this time with natural light instead of black light (this neon version is great for color). Under black light the yellow portion does not fluoresce and so they appear to be more of a single color with a dark shadow where the yellow is as in this black light PAD - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/94337107
Hung two slinkies from the top of a black backdrop and arranged them in an "arty fashion" (they have a mind of their own when it comes to "arranging"). Added a few celestial objects to the backdrop for effect. Voila - a highway through space.
I decided that I wanted everything to be in relatively sharp focus (was using a 105 mm macro lens) and so stopped way down to f/36. Close enough.

Nikon D300
3s f/36.0 at 105.0mm iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto
