Since I rarely do living creatures, decided to post this as a change. When I approached the pond in early morning the geese got restless (several hundred). I got my tripod set up and then encouraged them to take off by clapping several times loudly. All 300 started squawking and flying at once - the biggest racket you've ever heard. Probably woke everyone nearby - yeah, it's Ed again.
There's usually a great blue heron in the pond every morning getting breakfast but I didn't see it. The foreground cattails were about 50 feet away. The GBH was hidden behind them and took off a split second before the geese. Had I known, it might have made for an interesting shot as the GBH flew away from through the rising geese. You can't win them all.
