Same scene and technique as yesterday's PAD http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/90513557
Flipped the camera (thanks, Kirk, for getting the D300 L-Bracket shipped), moved 2-3 steps to the right, warmed the white balance a bit (this seems closer to the actual fog color, but??), and repeated the shot.
Freeman Patterson, whose work introduced me to this technique, advocates shooting several of the same scene since it's difficult to tell in advance what you're going to get with multiple exposures. True - but when you can preview the results in the D300's magnificent LCD monitor it's less of a problem now.
Have you ever gone on a shoot to the same location with other photographers and been surprised with the totally different results each brought back at the end of the day? Sometimes I wonder if we were all at the same place. The difference between today's and yesterday's isn't that great, but they illustrate that you should always make several different shots of the same scene. Flip the camera if nothing else. Many folks seem to shoot as if their cameras don't work in the portrait (vertical) orientation.
