This is an overlay of two images - one image sharp and one out of focus. The D300 has an image overlay feature. You can select any two images on your memory card (must be RAW) and overlay them in camera and save it as a new image (with no harm to the original two - and a sneak preview to see if you like what you've got before saving). I had tried to do a similar overlay by shooting a two shot multiple exposure several days ago - before I came across this feature. This works a *lot* better than two multiples and it also beats shooting two separate shots the way this technique was originated by slide film shooters.
