It's like the TV ad with the person making a call with new Comcast digital phone service. The callee says that the caller sounds the same, but the caller insists that things are different because now it's Comcast digital.
Well - this is D300 *Liveview*. The shot was composed and focused through the LCD and *not* through the viewfinder. It looks no different? Well, maybe that's a good thing. Seriously - it's amazing to be able to enlarge the image to the point where the little mangenta thing-y at the lower right is life size in the almost hi-def LCD and then to scroll a focus box to the precise spot where you want to focus. And then click and it's done. Liveview with the D300 on a tripod and a remote cable release is just short of photographic magic.
Oh - this is a shoot through. The subject is a little over a foot away from the front of the wide open 105mm macro lens; another blossom is directly in front of the lens at a distance of an inch or two.
