This was the reason for my just completed 8,000 mile round trip drive to California - Stephanie's wedding (my wife's niece). I said from the start that I would not be taking photos; Steph had hired a pro - but try saying no to your wife and the bride's mother (wife's sister) on the wedding day. So - I did my best to get some shots and to stay out of the pro's way.
I do not want to be a wedding photographer when I grow up. I'll match my results against the pro's any day BUT not my ability (and desire) dealing with people. (Although I did bond better with the guests than the pro did - but that's more because I didn't have to be pushy and demanding in trying to get folks with a bit to drink under their belts to be where they were supposed to be. I just drank with them and invited them to come to me when they felt so inclined. For this one Steph turned to me while the pro was fussing about something and said - I guess I should look towards you, too, Uncle Ed.)
Besides the wedding gift we gave them at the wedding, I'll be putting together a fancy DVD slide show with music from the wedding complete with all sorts of special effects (using Pro Show Producer) as a Christmas gift.
